Therapeutic Counselling delivered by Ganine Hurrell MBACP (Accred)

A nest is a haven of safety and comfort, designed to protect, nurture, and foster growth.

Welcome to The Therapy Nest! I am Ganine, a compassionate and dedicated Person-Centred therapist. I offer personalised counselling sessions tailored to your needs, whether face-to-face, online, or over the phone.

Life has its challenges, no matter who you are or what you have experienced. While we often find ways to navigate through tough times, there are moments when it feels overwhelming, leaving us feeling stuck. Whatever has brought you to seek therapy, it’s important to acknowledge the courage it takes to recognise that you are struggling. Taking this first step is a powerful act of self-care.

What is Counselling?

Counselling provides a safe and supportive space for you to share your thoughts and feelings with someone who is not directly involved in your challenges. It allows you to process your emotions, feel truly heard, and gain clarity about the choices and paths ahead. Rather than offering direct advice, counsellors help you explore your difficulties by presenting alternative perspectives for consideration.

Your counsellor may also suggest using practical tools and strategies tailored to the concerns you discuss. You have the freedom to decide whether to apply these insights and techniques outside of the counselling sessions, empowering you to take steps toward personal growth at your own pace.

Person Centred Therapy

My theoretical approach is Person-Centred. Person-Centred therapy is a compassionate and empowering form of talking therapy that places the individual at the heart of the process. Rooted in the belief that each person is the expert of their own life, this approach provides a safe, non-judgemental space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours openly. At its core, the therapy is built on the principle that given the right conditions, every person has an innate ability to grow, heal, and make meaningful change in their lives.

The foundation of Person-Centred therapy lies in the trusting, collaborative relationship between the client and therapist. The therapist walks alongside the client, offering support, empathy, and transparency throughout their journey of self-discovery. The ultimate aim is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, build confidence, and face life’s challenges with resilience and clarity.

About me

Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming, but the key lies in finding someone you connect with, a person you instinctively feel you can trust. From personal experience, I understand that the first therapist you meet may not feel like the right fit, and that’s perfectly okay. To help you make this important decision, I offer a free 30-minute initial telephone consultation. During this call, we can explore your goals for therapy, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Over the past 15 years, I have worked with children, young people, and adults in both educational and charity settings. Currently, I am a therapist at CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health service), supporting children, young people, and their families through a variety of challenges.

As an accredited member of the BACP, I adhere to their rigorous standards of training, experience, and ethical practice. In addition to my counselling qualifications, I have undergone training and gained experience working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with Autism and ADHD. My work also encompasses a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, experiences of sexual abuse, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, school transitions, and bullying, among others.

If you’re looking for a short-term intervention with a specific goal in mind, I am experienced in using a brief solution-focused model to help you achieve meaningful progress.
